Course Details
Our Support Work in Schools Level 2 award has been designed to teach students the fundamentals required to work in a school environment. As you work your way through the course you will build a knowledge and understanding of the needs of young people and the structure and processes of educational establishments.
As you progress through the course materials you will cover a wide range of subject areas which will include child and young person development, safeguarding children, communication skills, equality, diversity and inclusion in work with young people, schools as organisations.
This can be a hugely rewarding career as you see the results of your input when children achieve their full potential.
This award is a knowledge based certification so you are not required to undertake a work placement to complete the course.
Please note – You do not require any previous classroom experience or qualifications prior to doing this course.
Qualifications
On successful completion of the course you will receive the CACHE Level 2 Award in Support Work in Schools (QCF) qualification. Our Support Work in Schools qualification is listed on the QCF.
Who is CACHE?
CACHE is the UK’s only specialist organisation to design courses and qualifications in the education and care of children sector. CACHE has designed courses that cover from entry level to advanced level for child care professionals. They work in conjunction with the Sector Skills Council to maintain high quality standards and excellent customer service.
Study Plan

Your course will cover various aspects of the subject including:
Part A
- Child and young person development
- Safeguarding the welfare of children and young people
- Communication and professional relationships with children, young people and adults
- Equality, diversity and inclusion in work with children and young people
Part B
Study Details
Your Support Work in Schools course is broken down into 2 main groups. Group A contains 4 study modules and Group B contains 1 study module. Each module is worth set amounts of credits that total 12 credits. You must achieve 12 credits to successfully complete the course.
Assessment Method
When you complete each study module you will be required to complete an assignment which should be submitted to your personal tutor for assessment. By submitting your assignments to your tutor, your progress is continually monitored and the tutor is able to provide you with feedback and assistance throughout your studies.
Study Options
Distance learning is meant to provide students with flexibility and Home Learning Course wants your learning experience to be as convenient as possible. Therefore, we are able to offer two methods of study:
- Traditional paper-based learning (via the post)
- Online learning (all materials exchanged electronically)
Based on previous students’ experiences, we anticipate that it will take the average student approximately 80 hours to complete the course.
